Positive aspects of the product (pros): Great sound, for LOUD players with good sound quality
Cons: Heavy, hardware tends to give way.

The Pearl tenors are really the standard which other multi-tom manufacturers try to measure up to. They are definitely designed to produce a full rich sound at the upper dynamic levels, and as such are probably best suited for outdoor use.
They actually sound the best with good old pinstripes and a slightly lower tuning scheme, due to the thickness of the shells. However, the drums are pretty flexible, allowing a lot of experimentation with tuning.

The only real problems have to do with the hardware. It is often hard to get more than one set of drums to lay at the same angle, and the connecting bolts between the individual toms often need to be retightened , and sometimes even readjusted, to provide a closer rim-to-rim distance.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Excellent Sound
Cons: Hardware Durability

I played pearl throughout my high school days, and I dont think they've changed much in the last few years.
They were a really nice set. The only thing that I would gripe about is the hardware, like Tbone said. It's a really nice set of drums, but you've really got to take care of them to preserve them. Never had any severe problems, but major corrosion around lugs and rims.

I still reccommend them though. If you can afford them, by all means, get them. I played on
quads with an 8" number 1 drum. I suggest the larger drums with a 10" top drum because of the warmer tone.

Definitely my #2 pick for tenors, with Dynasty Quints being first.

Positive aspects of the product (pros): Warm Full Tone, Sturdy Shell
Cons: Old Hardware Is Tricky - But Newer Updates Fix Old Problems

These are most likely the best tenor on the market today... maybe not perfect, but their about as close as you can get. The shells hold up to just about anything, the tone is fabulous and the weight is tolerable.

Most people complain about broken lugs (updated lug issue fixed a few years ago) or lack of adjustment/stability of connections - but the latter issue was fixed with the introduction of the tube carrier about two rears ago. The new spacers between the lugs are solid and angle adjustable and the carriers are just awesome!!! If you want to adjust it YOU CAN!!

By far, these drums are what every other tenor set aspires to be!
