Description:

Ebony® Suede® is a two ply head combining a single ply of specially treated 10-mil Ebony® Mylar® with an underlying single ply of 5-mil Mylar®. The stunning look of Ebony® with the warm, dry tone of Suede® makes this an ideal drumhead for indoor drumming where appearance is as important as sound.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):
|
dark sound, warm tones
|
|
Cons:
|
less attack the white Suedes
|
|
We just put these on our tenors tonight so I'm only going off one night of playing.
Appearance: they look awesome. The matt black finish is amazing, kind of has a marble look to it. These would look great on color, brand, size of tenors.
down side: Stick marks are a lot more visible.
Sound: We had one set with the whites and one with the ebony's and there is a difference for sure. It is more then just color with these. The white Suedes have greater attack and stick definition. The ebony's have a deeper tone,a thicker, fuller sound.
Overall: if your looking for a different sound that's pretty unique these are the heads

Look amazing

|
Cons:

Little attack/short sustain on smaller drums

If you buy the Remo Black Suede for what they were intended - a mellow, slightly dryer sound, you will be happy.
The heads have the least amount of attack of any head I have used and from 10" on up to the spock, they really start to get even MORE dead between the double-ply and the suede coating.
On the up side...they look amazing and seem very durable. The stick marks will show more, but overall a very tough head.
If you are looking for a more warm sound with less attack/sustain, this is the head for you.
