Positive aspects of the product (pros):
great projection, big sound, durable
Cons:
grip problems
The only problem that I have with these mallets is that the rubber grips can slowly slip from the shaft, and they can come off completely fairly easily. This problem only began occuring after I used them for quite a while, though.
These are excellent "standard-use" mallets. They sound great in lines with fewer tenors because they project very well, but not to the point that they are overpowering. At the same time, they offer fairly good control, and are extremely durable. If you're looking for a standard, well-rouded tenor mallet, this is it. I would recommend them to anyone!

Nothing major

So the grips tend to slip a little, like any other aluminum tenor mallet. (Wrap some tape around the shaft under the handle and they'll stay in place.)
That little annoyance aside, the MT1A-S is easily the best tenor mallet I've ever used. It's the same as the MT1A, but made from slightly thicker-walled aluminum tubing. It's just a bit heavier than the MT1A, but I find the weight creates a better-balanced mallet. Because of the thicker aluminum, it's also more durable than the regular MT1A.
