This is definately not the best metronome out there. It doesn't have any special features to it. The best part about the MR-500 is the easy-to-use dial so you can turn the tempo fast. It's got a basic A440 reference pitch, a 40-208 BPM tempo range, LED display, and a personal earphone.
It has a metal pop-up stand, allowing it to stand up, but it's really hard to get to, and it gets in the way of the battery compartment. The battery compartment is really hard to get to. I was really agitated that there were no batteries included. I know it sounds a little picky, but I was ready to start practicing, I turned it on, and nothing happened. Then I had to find the battery compartment, open it up, to find there were no batteries.
Honestly, I made a mistake buying the Matrix MR-500 Quartz Metronome. I do not recommend this product to anyone.

Tempo range up to Prestissimo, Light to aid with audio tick

|
Cons:
|
Tempos increase in different intervals, no volume control

Actually, I recommend this met. This is the one that I use on the road, due to its small handheld size and relative worth.
Its not a DB-88, but it still produces a decent sound. Also, it gives a standard A440, which can be used to tune timpani for play(if you have good pitch).
While its not super, its a great starter met at a low price. Definately recommend.

This is a really great starter metronome. It far exceedes the credit card sized digital metronomes. It not only taps out the tempo, but it also shows you a visual with the light. It's easy to transport and fairly inexpensive. I recommend this for beginners or even intermediate players, and it's great for recommending to the non-percussionist.

This metronome is great for those who don't want/need the subdivision between notes. It's a good met to use for simple pieces, but isn't quite as useful for when you're playing more difficult licks that need more subdivision. You can get an electronic metronome for cheaper that tends to have more features than this metronome, so for the price, I would not recommend it.
