Description:
|
The NEW 14" x 6" marching snare drum called the "Wedge" is the new drum on the market for parades, small bands, Shriner's, Police and Firemen's bands. The "Wedge" snare drum is the lite-weight alternative to marching snare drums at 11.5 pounds. The "Wedge" sounds great and is completely interchangeable with the DFXT14 and DSFT14 snare drums. The snare drum has an 8-ply hard rock maple shell with aluminum cast hoops and collar and 6mm tension rods. Dynasty USA Marching Snare Drums are available in red, white, black and blue. Standard hardware colors are silver powder coating with black powder coating and chrome finish as custom hardware finishes.

Our snareline also has used the conversion kit from Dynasty to use this snare for indoor competitions. The sound quality is still great. There is no depth of sound, it's just a high pitched clear sound. With the DFXT snare, all you need to do is change the shell because the double snare mechanism is already on. It's not hard at all to change it into this type of drum. Besides indoor competitions, this drum sounds amazingly good on the field.
Specifications:
The drum is very light, weighs 10 pounds. It has 6mm tension rods, it also has an internal top head snare assembly in the suspension ring.

Positive aspects of the product (pros):

Light weight w/o sacrificing sound & projection: superb!
|
|
Cons:
|
Odd [but solidly built] snare "throw off" must be turned/rotated: not quick acting... but that's a very minor point

What a stunningly simple concept! I was at first surprised with the wire snares, but they have no buzz whatsoever because of the integral small 'muffler' which pushes them against the head. Why would anyone want to carry a heavier marching snare? Conventional two-head, high tension snares are *absurdly* heavy, but this neatly solves the weight issue without giving up the sound.
