The third in the "Logic" series by Bill Bachman.
Bass Logic was written for bass drummers, drum instructors, band directors, and anyone wishing to better understand the instrument. The issues covered are those which are unique to the art of bass drumming including tuning, stroke technique, quality of sound, rhythm/timing, splits for 2-5 basses and much more.
The book is full of quality information and bass music for players of all levels including tons of exercises, a cadence, and ensembles for 3, 4, and 5 basses!

Excellent information and exercises for any bass line

Could have covered exercises for six bass drums

This is yet another masterpiece from Bill Bachman! Its information can be invaluable to everyone from a total bass drum newbie, to a five-year Bluecoats veteran. If I'm not mistaken, this is the only book of its kind, just as Quad Logic once was. You can even expect all of the perks that you would get from Rudimental Logic and Quad Logic!
The book covers such topics as drum size choices, bass composition, and even how to appropriately set individuals to a bass line...great information to have for those with little to no experience with drumlines.
The book even covers splits for 2-5 players at a time, so you can rehearse with your line, even if everyone cannot show up.
There are three bass ensembles included with the book, for lines with 3-5 basses (one ensemble for each line size). They are very well written and can be quite the challenge. However, they may be too difficult for under-developed bass lines.
The only issue with the book is a minor one; there isn't anything mentioned for bass drum lines with six drummers. Not an inconvienience for most, but if you are looking for any exercises or ensembles for a bass line with six players, this isn't the book for you.
I definitely approve of this book! I recommend that anyone who wishes to improve their bass line's skills, or better learn and understand the inner-workings of a bass line, buy this book right away!

Any true bass drummer should have this book. There so many warmups in this book for basslines with 5 or just 2 basses. May i just say that the 2 basses warmsups are really fun.

I love this book. There are so many great exercises and warmups. It covers the most common bass line set-ups and tuning methods. One of my favorite parts is the dynamics section. It shows the mallet levels for each dynamic marking, which is extremely important for us basses.

Not as technical and in-depth as his Quad Logic book.

Bass Logic is the latest in Bachman's "Logic" series of instructional books, and this one shows advancement in his teaching technique.
The book clearly lays out the basics for an instructor or player, from who should be on which bass, tuning, muffling and stroke technique and development. It's also got very clear developmental sections on 2-3-4-5 bass drum splits (which is great for smaller bands to see the smaller splits!). It includes good (if very straightforward) exercises, warmups and cadences to work on.
The cadences seem to be very HS-level, which is good (considering the ones in Quad Logic are well-nigh impossible).
My only real gripes are with the early technical sections of the book - very little time is used on tuning and muffling, which if you come to it as a complete neophyte, you're going to remain more-or-less so after reading it.
Still, though, his Logic books are by far the best out there that I've seen, and I've already started incorporating its lessons into my own playing and instruction.
